• The Death of Charlie Kirik

    Thoughts..

I’m sitting here at church on a Wednesday afternoon, coming from seminary, while still on campus, and news just broke that Charlie Kirik was shot. News outlets and X(I’m still calling it Twitter) users are all watching the horrific video of him hosting a debate at a Utah college campus, answering questions from those on the Left, and with one final question, he gets shot, and everything turns into chaos, people scrambling, to get away, Charlies people trying to get to him, rushing him to waiting car to get him to a hospital, the Conservative World lost a voice, a organization lost its founder, and a wife a children lost their provider…

    1. Pray

Even if you didn’t like Charlie, agree with how he spoke, or support the causes he fought for, he was still human. He was a father, husband, and son, and he wanted the American experiment to continue and thrive for 500 years. To achieve this, opposing sides must communicate effectively. Words might hurt, but at the end of the day, we MUST remain human—not animals. So I ask you: Throughout this week, since the news broke and during all your hours of screen time, when was the last time you prayed—for Charlie, for his kids and wife, for your fellow Republicans, and even the Democrats you dislike? Consider that, and bow before God.

    2. Turn off your Phone

I know it’s hard, and I know you’re glued to it, but the 24/7 news cycle can be addictive. It draws us in and keeps our eyes glued to our TVs, MacBooks, iPhones, and other screens. Watching videos, press conferences, and waiting anxiously for new posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit is not healthy. Turn off your devices, open your Bible, and seek guidance from our Father.

    3. Closing Thoughts..

As we all head into the weekend, let us take a moment to hold our families close, cherishing every moment we get to spend together. Make it a point to reach out and call friends you haven’t spoken to in a while—whether they are Republican or Democrat, or hold different views from your own. In remembrance of Charlie Kirk, let us remember that America still needs open and honest conversations. We must continue to point to Jesus, our Lord and Savior, as the foundation of our hope and character. It is important to truly listen to one another, with compassion and understanding, for when blood is spilled, it serves only to divide us further. Instead, let communication, empathy, and genuine dialogue be what brings us together as a nation. By coming together and supporting each other, we can find strength in unity and build a future grounded in faith, respect, and love.
